Start with one customer journey
Choose one service you want people to find. On your phone, follow the path a new customer might take: find the business, understand the service, then try to make contact. Write down the points where you have to guess. This gives you a concrete starting list instead of an open-ended instruction to “do more marketing.”
Ask someone who does not work in the business to repeat the exercise. Give them a task rather than a tour of the website.
Make the basic information agree
Compare your website and Google Business Profile against the information your team gives customers. Google recommends complete, accurate business information and current hours. Treat that as a housekeeping task before adding another channel.
- Confirm the business name, phone number and customer-facing location or service area.
- Check opening hours, holiday exceptions and the website destination.
- Remove expired offers and correct services you no longer provide.
Give each useful page a clear job
Google’s SEO Starter Guide recommends helpful content and descriptive links. Apply that by answering the questions people ask before contacting you: what the service includes, who it suits and what happens next. A link such as “Explore website care” tells a reader more than “Click here.”
Test the next step
Try the phone and inquiry options on a small screen. Check the destination before submitting a test, and arrange it with the person receiving messages. Record which route worked and who is responsible for replying.
- Can you find contact details without hunting through the menu?
- Does the inquiry reach the right person?
- Does the page explain what information to include?
Choose a manageable first improvement
Pick the clearest obstacle from your notes, assign an owner and schedule a review. Keep a short change log. Correct information, an understandable service page and a working contact route give the next marketing decision a more useful foundation.
